Discussion Questions
By the due date assigned, post your response to the assigned discussion questions in the below Discussion Area. It is important to support what you say with relevant citations in the APA format from both the course materials and outside resources. Include the South University Online Library in your research activities utilizing not only the nursing resource database, but also those pertaining to education, business, and human resources.
No later than by the end of the week, review and comment on the discussion question responses posted by at least two of your peers. Be objective, clear, and concise. Always use constructive language. All comments should be posted to the appropriate topic in this Discussion Area.
Discussion Question
Visit South’s online library and review these two articles.
Connelly, L. M. (2014). Use of theoretical frameworks in research. MEDSURG Nursing, 23(3), 187-188.
Green, H. E. (2014). Use of theoretical and conceptual frameworks in qualitative research. Nurse Researcher, 21(6), 34-38.
Next, review the evidence you are collecting for your proposed study. Which theories have others cited? Are you seeing a common theme? Next construct a conceptual map (see p. 138 in your textbook). Use Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint and include this as an attachment. Be sure you have defined the concepts and included relational statements.
Provide constructive, supportive feedback to your classmates’ posts.

Sample Answer
Connelly (2014) addresses the theme of applying theory guides to back research findings. The article establishes that researchers have omitted the rational theoretic part in various scholarly articles or used it ambiguously or unclearly. Green (2014) found that various research methods do not clearly employ a theoretical framework or conceptual framework in their design.
However, this is embedded and underpins the method design, like in grounded theory. Besides, various qualitative methods employ one theoretical framework or the other to structure the design of a research project or explain its outcomes.
My proposed study is on Opioid overdose during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Covid-19 pandemic was associated with various challenges related to the opiate overdose crisis. Lockard et al. (2022) qualitatively explored the gains and losses made in virtual patient engagements for individuals with opioid use disorder during the covid-19 pandemic.
The study applied Levesque’s Conceptual Framework of Access to Health. It was also conceptualized using previous studies on telemedicine acceptability. Levesque’s Conceptual Framework of Access to Health offers a fascinating and comprehensive perspective through the five dimensions of access and the five abilities of the population to access healthcare.
The framework has been successfully applied in research exploring, evaluating, and measuring access in different healthcare services and settings. The framework enables researchers to comprehensively assess the complex and dynamic process of access in the health systems and the population contexts. Nevertheless, the framework has room for improvement, especially in the integration of time-related access elements.
