Telehealth services should be capable of supporting persons with visual and hearing impairments. For example, for persons with poor vision, I would consider having a device that can display information in large fonts. Alternatively, for those with complete visual loss, I would ensure I communicate clearly and consciously to allow the patient to understand (Annaswamy et al., 2020). On the other hand, for persons with hearing impairments, I would consider using a third party with the patient’s consent to assist me with sign language.

Additionally, I would emphasize my nonverbal cues, such as facial expressions and gestures, and consider using audio caption services that display subtitles to help ease communication (McKee et al., 2022). I would also utilize the chat services on different platforms to ease communication and use figurative communication such as charts and images. For both groups of patients, I can also coordinate with insurance companies such as Medicaid to cover the prescription glasses and hearing aid costs.
