Sample Answer
Which weekly objectives do you have prior knowledge of, and to what extent?
I have prior knowledge of the objectives in Topic 1 involving the prioritization of care based on best evidence. Engle et al. (2021) explain that healthcare organizations focus on providing care that is evidence-based and patient-centered.
The promotion of care based on evidence requires that the organization establish a culture that involves the staff in providing the best care. Huppert et al. (2019) explain that the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has focused on adopting patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) seeking to enhance safer quality care.
This is underscored by the use of evidence-based PCOR interventions. I also have knowledge of the objective in Topic 2 which entails the application of theoretical framework and models in practice. Strifler et al. (2020) explain that implementation models and frameworks are vital for providing guidance when adopting and sustaining healthcare evidence-based interventions.
Additionally, I have prior knowledge of the objective in Topic 3 which discusses the facilitation of the coordination of care in collaboration with the care team. Khatri et al. (2023) explain that healthcare coordination includes care providers and organizations seeking to ensure the provision of the right care at the right time.
Which weekly objectives do you have no prior knowledge of?
There are a number of objectives I lack prior knowledge of in this course. For example, I lack previous knowledge of the objectives in Topic 4 which describes how information and communication technologies tools reinforce patient and team communications.
Yoo & Lee (2022) explain that information and communication technologies can be used by nurses to minimize burden by promoting environmental management and non-contact communication with patients.
Alexander et al. (2021) explain that communication technologies are used to communicate with healthcare professionals about systems that develop after discharge. I also lack enough knowledge concerning Topic 5 objective on the evaluation of resources that enhance nurses’ wellness and resiliency.
3. What course-related topics would you like to discuss with your instructor and classmates? What questions or concerns do you have about this course?
The course-related topic I would like to discuss with my instructor and classmates relates to the use of evidence-based practice in addressing emerging issues in society.
It is important for nurses to understand the strategies they can use and challenges they can face and how to mitigate them. The question I have about the course is whether evidence-based practice can be used to justify the benefits of the course to the learners.
