Sample Answer
During this course, I have achieved the Course Student Learning Outcome 2 (CSLO 2) of explaining basic features of the research and evidence-based practice processes including ethical principles. I learned that the research process has several steps, where researchers begin by identifying and formulating a research question that forms the basis for the process.
The next step involves developing an appropriate study design, research questions, procedures, and data collection process. Afterward, researchers recruit willing participants for their study, explain to them what the research is about, ensure the research process respects their consent, autonomy, and confidentiality, and proceed to collect data.
The researchers then analyze and interpret the data collected and draw conclusions from the findings. The data is then reported in an essay or visualized material to relevant channels for ethical review.
Furthermore, I engaged in the ethical-based practice (EBP) process, which began with asking a searchable question about an individual’s problem, such as diagnosis or prognosis. The process also involved finding evidence using online and printed resources to answer the question.
The evidence was then critically appraised for validity, impact, and applicability to allow it to be integrated into clinical expertise. The information gathered was then evaluated to check whether it is suitable for good clinical outcomes and if it meets the patient’s preferences for it to be implemented into EBP for continuous monitoring to assess for effectiveness.
